Diy wall panelling 25 january 2018 as i was working on the library and posting updates on social media so many people messaged me asking to know more about our wall panelling because it s a project they d like to do in their own home. Now if you ve been following along you will know that i didn t quite get the room finished due to getting an inflamed shoulder. If you are using base molding cut the bottom panel 1 short to alleviate any floor variance issues. Installing 3d panels on your own might seem overwhelming but you will be surprised with how easy it is once you get going.

Once you are done use the sandpaper to sand out the cut edge. Give your room extra depth and dimension by adding a unique 3d decorative wall covering. Reinstall any wall baseboard to this lower panel. Run a bead of construction adhesive along both rows of 2x4s.

Install the lower panel with 15 gauge finish nails 6 on center 1 from the top and bottom. Just follow the steps outlined above and you have your own feature wall in no time. You can transform your room into a talking point or simply give a boring wall new life by using a design that provides subtle texture. Mount another row of 2x4s 1 from floor.

Decorative wall panels are the most effective way to add interest to a room creating themes that are cheaper than redecorating a whole room with new furniture. With the wall only being 213cm in length i decided to really budget it and diy my own wall panelling with mdf board and decorative mouldings purchased from my local wickes.
